Important Notice About Car Park

We have been getting an increasing number of people leaving their cars parked in our car park who are not coming to the surgery. We have had to take measures to stop this; as we would like our patients to be able to park in the spaces!

You will see new notices have appeared in the car park; if you are a patient or authorised visitor to the surgery there is no need to worry we are not going to charge you for parking. We have signed up to a company who will help us monitor the unwanted users; it is these people who will be asked to pay a fine. Please let us know if you should ever receive a fine in error; it can be quickly corrected.

Non NHS Services

The NHS does not cover non-medical services such as insurance medicals, medicals for HGV (and other) licenses, pre-employment and fitness to travel examinations. We are happy to provide this service to all our patients whether registered with the Surgery or not. There is however, a fee payable in accordance with British Medical Association guidelines. For a list of services and fees, please ask at Reception.

Chaperoning

If you think you will require an examination with a GP and would want a chaperone to be present, please forewarn the receptionist when making the appointment. This is because another member of staff would need to be available, otherwise there is a risk that your appointment may need to be rearranged.

Teaching Medical Students

During the year we teach and supervise medical students at different stages of their training at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. You will always be informed of this and if you prefer not to have a student present please let reception know.

Changing your Name or Address

Please let the surgery know as soon as possible if you change your name or move to a new address. If you move to an address outside our practice area then you will be asked to register with another surgery.

Disabled Access

We have good disabled access from the rear car park into the surgery. We have recently installed a hearing loop at the reception desk and have a portable hearing loop for use elsewhere in the building when required.

Data Protection & Freedom of Information

The practice is registered with the Data Protection Agency and is bound by the rules governing the collection and storage of personal data. Patients are entitled to see their medical records and to have copies for a small fee. We recommend that if you wish to see your records you should speak to the Practice Manager first.

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 obliges the practice to produce a Publication Scheme. The Publication Scheme is a guide to the “classes” of information the practice intends to routinely make available.

Violent or Abusive Visitors

Any visitor who is violent, abusive or threatening towards any member of the surgery staff or other visitor will be asked to leave the premises and if they are our patient they will be removed from our list. The police will be called in the event of a refusal to leave immediately. We will not tolerate any verbal or physical abuse of any member of the practice team and such behaviour will result in removal from the practice list.

Partnership & Contract Details

Woodlands Surgery is a partnership between Dr Richard Parker, Dr Elizabeth O'Donnell, Dr Perpetua Nicholas, Dr Veena Krishnan, Dr Charlotte Nonhebel, Dr Jenny Newell and Mrs Rachel Galloway. Woodlands Surgery is contracted by Cambridgeshire NHS to perform medical services under the new GMS contract. Cambridgeshire NHS contact details are: Lockton House, Clarendon Road, Cambridge CB 8HF. Their website address is www.cambridgeshire.nhs.net

Choose and Book

This is a computer booking service for hospital appointments and for certain other services (for example to another GP with a special interest). If you need to be referred to the hospital our doctors will talk to you about where you would prefer to be seen. In addition they will also ask if our secretaries can book the first available appointment for you. For our surgery the majority of patients choose to go to Addenbrooke's hospital but you are able to choose to be seen elsewhere. We have copies of the Choice Leaflet in our waiting rooms and in the doctors consulting rooms. Please ask for one as this explains the system in more detail. Once we have booked your appointment we send you the details, which includes information on how to change or cancel your appointment should you need to do so.
