Simple steps such as having a well-stocked medicine cabinet at home can help with minor illnesses and injuries, and with us being closed we want to remind patients to ensure their repeat prescriptions are ordered in advance.
For immediate, life-threatening emergencies such as stroke, blacking out or severe blood loss, patients should dial 999 or got to their local A&E department.
For other illnesses and injuries there are a range of services available. Pharmacists can help with many minor ailments such as colds, flu, headaches, sore throats, ear aches, emergency contraception, skin problems and more.
For those who are unsure of where to go or need advice on their illness and injury, they can call NHS 111 which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Calls are answered by a team of fully trained call advisers who will direct the caller to the most appropriate and available local service.
