Following on from our previous post, we have been informed today by NHS England that the introduction of the scheme to allow GP Surgeries to accept out of area registrations has been postponed until 5th January 2015. The reason is to allow NHS England time to ensure that all arrangements are in place for patients to access urgent care when needed.
As we explained in the last post, we had already decided against the scheme, until we had assurances about how patient safety & access to medical services would be arranged. We will continue to review once we have received more information. The Partners will then decide if they feel that there is suitable arrangements in place before we sign up to out of area patients.
Here at Woodlands we are focused & dedicated on patient safety & until we feel 100% confident that any new systems will protect/improve patient safety, then we will not proceed.
If you would like to discuss further, please feel free to contact the surgery.
